Short Description:

The socket welding flange is similar to a slip-on flange except it has a bore and a counterbore dimension.

The pipe can be put into the flange in a manner similar to a slip-on flange since the counterbore is slightly larger than the O.D. of the corresponding pipe. The matched pipe’s ID and the smaller bore’s diameter are identical. A limitation that serves as a shoulder for the pipe to rest on is incorporated into the bottom of the bore. By doing this, any flow restriction caused by a socket welding flange is eliminated.
